When Bernett Galleries was started in 1997, artist and proprietor, Lyle Bernett already had over 20 years of experience, as a craftsman, making fine hand made gifts in a variety of different products; from tables to jewelry boxes.
It was at this time that tragedy struck and Lyle’s father was diagnosed with with terminal cancer. He was given 6 weeks to live. A remarkable and responsible man, Lyle’s father stayed strong and refused to be a burden to his family during his remaining days with them. It was his wish to be cremated and he asked his son if he would be willing to make him a Cremation Urn. Honored and humbled, Lyle set to work on the vessel of his father’s final resting place. Lyle’s father was an avid golfer and loved to spend his summer days out on the greens and “The Golfer” Urn was created for that reason. Lyle takes great pride in knowing that his own father’s ashes are in his very first urn.
Today “The Golfer” is still his most popular request.
After people saw his father’s Urn at the funeral, and in speaking with others in the months that followed, Lyle began to realize that he was getting more and more requests for unique Cremation Urns. He stopped making other gifts and worked exclusively on creating beautiful Cremation Urns.
Then, as luck would have it, one of Lyle’s beloved pets passed away. It was at that time that Lyle created the Photo Pet Urn as a way to honor “boo”, and “shoes”.
That was many years ago. Since then, Lyle has created many new and unique Cremation Urns. Many are sold at funeral homes, cemeteries, and faith based stores. The Urns on this site were designed to honor loved ones that have passed from this world with beauty and everlasting style
